‘Love of Learning, Bright Futures, Happy Memories'
Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome to our website. We hope it gives you an opportunity to find out about what we can offer you and your family. In April 2018 I was delighted to take on the role of Executive Headteacher across three local schools. Heacham Infant and Nursery (where I have been Headteacher for eight years) has joined with Heacham Junior School. Snettisham Primary is also part of the partnership – working collaboratively under the same Leaders to improve the Curriculum, Inclusion, Wellbeing and Achievement for children in West Norfolk and as part of West Norfolk Academies Trust. I am proud to have the opportunity to work with a larger team to develop our vision for pupils aged 3-11 years old across the three schools. We aim to bring together the strengths from each school to develop consistently strong practise whilst maintaining and celebrating the unique qualities of each individual school.
“Together we succeed, learn, explore and grow: loving learning, bright futures and happy memories”
We want to ensure that all families and children in our local area can choose a school where the curriculum is relevant, exciting and vibrant. Where the teaching and learning is consistently good and engaging. So children will find that their talents and strengths are celebrated and valued through our recognition of children’s “Characteristics of Effective Learning”. Many fun learning themes are built into what we do. For example, each school is currently working on the Artsmark Award so that we enrich our Art, Music, Drama, Dance and Poetry learning. Each school has its own strengths to share - our Junior school is applying to be a Gold Eco School, our Infant school has achieved an Equality Mark 2018 that recognises the contribution the school makes to make learning equal and fair to all our school community. It is also hosting a local government SSIF project to extend language skills in the youngest pupils. Snettisham primary has been awarded Sportsmark Gold for many years and is reaching out to excel with the Platinum award in 2019.
We also offer Forest Schools to all our children with a class teacher who is Forest School trained to the highest level. There is a base school at Heacham Junior as the site has its own wood with deer and chickens. However, we are also improving the environment on each school site so that our schools give children good opportunities to learn outdoors and to improve their health and strength. Through our emphasis on learning outdoors, children can learn more about the nature around us as we live in an Area Of Outstanding Beauty which may offer employment and lifestyle opportunities for some children in the future. We have a Thrive Practitioner that works across all three schools to support issues with mental health – relaxation, anxiety, confidence, happiness and language skills. Our staff know that every child matters so please talk with them if you want to know any more. We like to give support to families too and have a Learning Catalyst across schools that will meet with families to give early help and employment support.
This is just a flavour of what we do. Much more information can be found on the pages of our website – please take a look and call us at the numbers shown on the contacts page. We look forward to meeting with you!
